Sustainable Kitchens
Sustainability in kitchen design is no longer a trend, but an essential consideration for homeowners who want to reduce their environmental impact. Sustainable kitchens should be built to last. Our kitchens use responsibly sourced materials that prioritise durability, reducing their environmental impact. Reclaimed timbers and low-VOC finishes, help to make our kitchens environmentally friendly and visually stunning.
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond that. We design timeless, hard-wearing kitchens that will last for generations. We also work closely with our clients to repurpose old kitchens, giving existing materials a second life.

Sustainability and Sustainable Kitchens have been key themes in two of our recent projects:
Chorlton Kitchen Design Project
In this Chorlton home, our client wanted a kitchen that used natural materials to minimise their environmental impact.
To achieve this, we used plywood cabinetry. Plywood is a durable material that emits far fewer harmful chemicals, making it a sustainable alternative to other manufactured boards. The material can be easily repaired, helping to future-proof your home. For finishes, we selected low-VOC paints, which reduced air pollutants and improved overall air quality.
The kitchen also features oak veneer finishes, bringing warmth and texture without the environmental impact of solid hardwood. This decision uses less wood while still achieving the rich quality of natural timber. For the worktops, we blended durable quartz with ethically sourced wood. The combination of materials created a natural, organic feel to the space.
The resulting kitchen perfectly balances nature and functionality. The soft colour palette and natural textures make this design visually stunning and built to last for generations.
Alderley Edge Kitchen Design Project
This project in Alderley Edge is a great example of how reclaimed materials can be used to craft high-end, bespoke kitchen designs which are full of character.
At the heart of the kitchen is the cabinetry and island, constructed from 100-year-old factory flooring. This wood carries a rich patina, bringing warmth that modern materials often lack. Using reclaimed wood also reduces the need for newly harvested timber, making it a more environmentally friendly choice. We used an eco-friendly, low-VOC paint to paint the salvaged pine helping reduce the environmental cost.
Another key aspect of this project was the commitment to repurposing elements from the previous kitchen. Rather than disposing of the old units and worktops, we worked with Re-home to ensure they were reused. This prevented unnecessary waste and allowed other homeowners and community projects to benefit from quality kitchen components at an affordable cost.
The result is a masterclass in how reclaimed materials can be transformed into a luxurious, characterful kitchen. Every element tells a story, and as materials age the kitchen will only become richer.
Re-Home Partnership
One of the most overlooked aspects of kitchen renovations is what happens to the old kitchen. Instead of sending unwanted units and worktops to landfills, we actively encourage our clients to give them a second life. By working with Re-home, we ensure that kitchens that are still in good condition can be repurposed for new owners
Sustainable Kitchen Design with LivedIn365
Both of these sustainable kitchens were designed in collaboration with Emma Rodgers at LivedIn365, a specialist in conscious interior design. Her expertise in creating stylish yet eco-friendly spaces played a crucial role in bringing these designs to life. By combining sustainable principles with thoughtful design, we created kitchens that not only look beautiful but also contribute to a greener, more responsible way of living.
